Some days everything I look at is really just that… everything I am looking at. But there are some days symbolismthat the things that I look at are actually telling me a story about something else. With energy and spiritual work, I find that symbolism and metaphors are often used for teaching lessons or imparting knowledge.

I had been working on a project for Danae Shanti, an energetic life coach who was helping me firm up my ideas on going into business for myself. Everything seemed to be coming in symbols; the mental gymnastics of figuring out the symbolism was both funny and exhausting.

One aha moment: I was at the copy store printing pictures for my project.  I was at the neighborhood FEDEX store, as I knew their printers were better than mine, and thus the end product would be far superior to my home printer.  But with the commercial printers, the pictures were coming out blurry; no matter how small I made them they were still blurry. As a last resort, I went home and used my own printer and for the first time my printer did a far better job than the commercial one.

The symbolism was not lost on me. It became abundantly clear that it was time for me to stop relying on professionals, including Danae for my “end product”… my growth. I was fully capable of doing my own printing, and I was fully capable of listening to Spirit and moving forward along my personal path.  During my last session with her, Danae was also clear that her time of mentoring me was finished. It was time for me to stand on my own, to trust my own inner guidance, and to step forward into the world on my own.

Watch for the potential symbolism throughout your day. Is there another message that the universe is trying to give you if you just stop and look at life from a different angle? Have fun and don’t be afraid to look.
